I don't remember not playing the piano. As a child, I knew piano would be my life; I just thought it would be in performing. When I started teaching private piano in college (to make money), I knew I had a new passion: teaching others to play the piano. So, I opened a nationwide studio called Melody Music Studios, where I spent my life teaching and hiring other instructors to teach. But there was always something missing. I never felt my students learned to read music fluently, even when I supplemented the traditional method books with rhythm and note-reading workbooks, flashcards, exercise books, etc. Then, one day, as I was teaching in April of 2017, an idea came to me like a lightning bolt. What if there was one book that had everything a student needed (scales, exercises, and theory) plus a multitude of songs in each set of notes and rhythm for a student to master them and read fluently? I immediately set out to write what I thought would be one book. I envisioned it on a device where students and teachers were connected to share assignments, books, and notes. So I began writing, and writing, and writing...until in 2019, I had written four books in a series I called "Drill & Excel On the Piano."

The learning mission is an ordered step learning, using drills and repetition to master each level. My goal is not only for students to learn at a deeper level, but also to help teachers teach! Now, using my curriculum, my students not only learn better, I teach better!
